Mr. Harold N. Brantley, age 74, of Millen, dies Wednesday, Feb. 23

Harold Norman Brantley, 74, of Millen died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005.

Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at the Millen Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Hood and Dr. Maurice Crowder officiating.

Mr. Brantley was a native of Candler County. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and a retired county extension agent.

He was a member and deacon of Millen Baptist Church. He had also served as president of the Millen Rotary Club and chairman of the Jenkins County Board of Commissioners. He was a past president of the Association of County Extension Agents.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy E. and Alice Brantley, and his son, Chris Brantley.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Parker Brantley; a daughter, Rhonda (Don) Starkweather of Dunnellon, Fla.; two sons, Phillip Brantley of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Jeff (Angie) Brantley of Millen; a daughter-in-law, Lynda Brantley of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Bobby Brantley of Savannah; two sisters, Bernice Rei of Baltimore, Md., and Mary Bland of Tallahassee, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Jeremy, Josh and Jason Brantley of Knoxville, Collette Brantley of Ft. Myers and Steven Brantley of Millen.

Pallbearers were William Gunn, Bill Miller, Dobson Gay, Bobby Dwelle, Leon Burch and Reabon Amerson.
