Mrs. Eunice Loretta Bassett Royal of Thomaston dies Friday, Feb. 18

Eunice Loretta Bassett Royal, 82, of Thomaston died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at Providence Nursing Care Center in Thomaston.

Her funeral was 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at Coggins Funeral Home in Thomaston with the Rev. Dean Hemphill officiating. Burial was in the Southview Cemetery in Thomaston.

Mrs. Royal was born on Oct. 3, 1922 in Screven County to the late Martin and Annie Daughtry Bassett. She was retired from Martha Mills, where she worked in the spinning room for over 28 years. She was a member of Clerk’s Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter R. Royal Sr.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Wayne and June Carpenter of Thomaston, Larry and Brenda Thompson of Sylvania and Judy Garvin of Millen; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Debbie Royal of Thomaston, Raymond and Martha Royal of Thomaston and Donald and Pam Royal of Barnesville; two sisters, Thelma Jenkins of Sardis and Reba Bassett of Sylvania; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
