Magnolia arts, crafts festival plans underway

Magnolia Springs State Park’s 12th annual Arts and Crafts Festival, including a living history encampment and the Miss Magnolia Springs Pageant, is set for Saturday, April 2.

There will be food, arts and craft and uniformed history enactors in an authentic camp setting.

The third annual Miss Magnolia Springs Beauty Pageant will also be held.

There will be entertainment featuring some of the area’s best talent.

Performers will include Archie Jordan, the Kaye Miller School of Dance, The Country Echoes, Ties that Bind gospel group and more.

This year there will be a kid’s "Catch and Release Fishing Rodeo" to be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for those 16 years old and younger. The only requirement will be parental supervision; rods and bait will be provided.

Spaces for art and crafts and good booths are still available by calling the park office.

To enter the beauty pageant, pick up an application at The Charm Barn or Magnolia Springs State Park office or contact Alisa Scott at (478) 763-4045.

Everyone is invited to spend the day. There is no admission charge, but the usual $2 per vehicle park pass at the gate will apply.

For information, call the park office at 982-1660.
