Big Horse Creek

Big Horse Creek Baptist Church is exploring the possibility of repairing and marking all of the graves in the church cemetery. Anyone with information or questions may contact Kathleen Rabitsch at (478) 982-5963.

Anyone who wishes to make a donation toward the project can contact any church member or mail donation to Kathleen Rabitsch, 1511 Hiltonia Road, Millen, GA 30442. Please mark donations as "cemetery repair."

Community Youth

For 25 years, the originators of the Community Youth Sunday have dedicated themselves to providing a productive, Christian-based program for the youth of Millen and Jenkins County.

The first program was held at Morrison Grove Baptist Church with Andrea Young as the speaker.

In celebration of 25 years, a program has been planned for 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 31, at the Morrison Grove Baptist Church. The speaker will be the Rev. Norman V. Carter, ministry coordinator of Macedonia Baptist Church in Augusta.

All former youth participants are requested to attend and participate. They are asked to respond by Friday, July 22, so final plans and preparation may begin for the special occasion.

Committee members are: Charles Beale, 982-3344; Irene Drummer, 982-5130; Pamela Luke, 982-2496; Maebel McCloud, 982-2374; Betty Roberts, 982-2086; and Johnnie Mae Sherrod, 982-2822.

Originators of the events are the Rev. W.B. Tomlin, Beale, Ellen Douglas, Harriett Lewis and Lillie McDowell.

Lane Grove

The annual Family and Friends Day will be held at Lane Grove Baptist Church 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The Rev. Robert Owens is pastor. The public is invited.

Community Worship

Gospel Illusionist Russ Tollison will speak at the Community Worship House, 417 Virginia Ave., 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27. The theme is "The Magic is in Believing."

Tollison has over 25 years experience in the art of magic and entertainment and has performed throughout the United States, Germany, Austria and Yugoslavia. He is the president of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Ring 184.

Gospel Music Workshop

A Gospel Music Workshop will be held at Second McCannan Baptist Church, Thursday-Saturday, July 28-30. Registration will begin 6:30 p.m.

Gerald Scott of Augusta will conduct the workshop. Scott has previously released gospel albums and has appeared on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show. He has ministered to people throughout this and surrounding communities.

Those interested may pre-register through any member of the Second McCannan Sanctuary Choir.

Fountain Spring

Fountain Spring Baptist Church announces that revival services are currently being held at 7:30 p.m. each night through Friday, July 22.

Guest minister for the week is the Rev. Felton Poole of Warrenton, pastor of Springfield Baptist Church.

Guest churches are: Monday, Drakes Chapel, Newlight, Jones Temple and Needful Baptist; Tuesday, Gordon Grove, Brinson Rock, Daniel Grove, Lane Grove, Dickey Grove and Welcome Baptist; Wednesday, William Grove C.O.G.I.C., First Baptist, Parker Grove and Johnson Grove of Midville; Thursday, William Grove Baptist, Mt. Carmel, Johnson Chapel and Morrison Grove; and Friday, Hurricane Branch, Skull Creek #2, Union Chapel, Saulters Grove and Zion Fair churches.

The pastor is Elder Pearlstine Capers. Chairman is Deacon Joseph Wright and secretary is Sister Johnnie Mae Florence.

Fountain Spring

Youth alert! Young people from the community are invited to Fountain Spring Baptist Church 6 p.m. Saturday, July 30. Guest speaker will be Pastor Gary Hackett of Swainsboro. The session will be held for those tired of hearing about teen pregnancy, drugs, violence and other problems youth face today.

Pearlstine Capers is pastor.
