Jeffery Brown, 20, of Belvedere, S.C. faces child molestation charges in four counties for molesting a 9-year-old Jenkins County girl.

Brown was originally arrested in Aiken, S.C. last month for committing lewd acts on the girl, and during interviews he told officers he had also molested the child in Burke and Jenkins counties.

Jenkins County Sheriff Tim Fields said warrants have been issued against Brown in Jenkins County for child molestation and statutory rape but have not yet been served. Sheriff Fields said Brown would also face child molestation charges in Richmond County.

Burke County law enforcement has issued warrants for Brown for child molestation and sexual battery charges. Brown was being held in Aiken County last week awaiting extradition to Richmond County, then Burke and Jenkins counties but has since been released on bond, said Sheriff Fields.

"It was something that probably should not have happened," said Sheriff Fields, adding that he expects Brown to be picked up again by law enforcement.
