A Jenkins County 17-year-old murder case received new attention last week when Augusta’s Channel 6 television station featured the story on its "Cold Case" segment airing at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
The segment outlined the Feb. 14, 1988 incident in which the body of a woman was found near Millen inside a garbage dumpster. The woman was 20-30 years old and was of Oriental descent. She was approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighed about 140 pounds. She had dark, shoulder-length hair and pierced ears. She had crowded front upper teeth and a missing right lower wisdom tooth.
At that time, attempts to identify the woman through missing persons’ reports were unsuccessful and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation published a composite drawing of the victim in an attempt to garner information from the public.
Anyone with information on the case should contact the Jenkins County Sheriff’s Department or Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
