Anthony Wayne Pittman of 319 B.A. Pittman Road, Lyons, has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with a Thursday, July 28, accident that occurred on U.S. Highway 25 North.

A Millen Police Department incident report indicates that Pittman was traveling in the northbound lane when the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado he was driving left the roadway and struck a utility pole owned by Planters Electric Membership Corporation.

The pole was demolished, and electrical crews were summoned to the scene along with law enforcement and emergency medical services personnel.

Pittman was transported to the Jenkins County Hospital for a blood test and then to the Millen Police Department for processing.

He was held in the Jenkins County Jail pending bond.
