Monday July 25 – The morning began with laundry folding. This is always a fun activity, both men and women residents seem to enjoy folding the hand towels, wash cloths and bibs. The residents seemed to be in a hurry to finish the laundry and start the bingo game.
The game is fun and fast paced. Bingo was being called out all over the activity department. Some residents who were not playing were calling out bingo! It is always an interesting game. We then turned our attention to Mr. Bob Barker and The Price is Right. The "Barker Babes "continued to think Mr. Barker is a dream boat. After lunch we were delighted to have Leola Kelly, Mary Frances Lattimore, Ellen Douglas, Harriett Lewis and Beulah Ramsey of the Caring and Sharing Social Club host the July birthday party for the residents.
Tuesday, July 26- Our morning began with our friend Mary Frances Lattimore. The beauty shop was buzzing and bustling with activity. It is always a wonderful sight to see our girls and guys looking so nice after visiting the beauty shop. Ethel Lahr, Edward and Elease Clarke and granddaughter Jody of Community Worship Center made their weekly visit. As usual the residents and staff enjoyed the music and singing. Sherri Adams, Human Resource Director brought her pups, J.C. and Pattiecake to visit with the residents. After lunch we gathered in the activity department to catch up on current events. The main topic was the sweltering heat wave, we discussed different types of out door occupations and how dangerous the heat could be.
Wednesday, July 27. We stretched and swayed to our morning exercises. I read from the Bible and we discussed the scripture. Soon to follow was The Price is Right. We were glad to watch the Plinko game once again. The contestant won 16,000 dollars. We sure were pulling for her to really hit the big money. After lunch the residents, La Swan Spells, Dietary Supervisor and I met in the beauty shop for residents Council. The meeting was very good.

Thursday, July 28- We enjoyed our morning stretches and then moved on to scripture reading and Gospel CD’s that were donated by June Powell and Brandon Cherry. The Residents truly enjoy listening to these older hymns. After lunch we gathered in the activity department to watch the movie Seabiscuit. The residents and I truly enjoyed this movie.
Friday, July 29- The morning started out with the ever popular game of Bingo. The group was ready to win the prize. The numbers that were called for some residents were very good indeed. Of course, there were a few that were not getting the numbers they wanted. Finally a full board winner was named. Billie Jo Monsell brought her baby pit bulls to visit with the residents. The pups are four weeks old. Many of the residents held and stroked the pups lovingly. They stated that they remember having dogs of their own. All the residents appeared to enjoy holding and looking at the puppies. After lunch we gathered in the activity department for a day at the spa.
Both male and female residents liked the lotion rubbed on their hands and having their fingernails clipped. The girls really liked wearing the different hats, bows and jewelry. Dressing up sure is fun.
We would like to thank Ralph Reed for visiting with us this week. He is running for the office of Lt. Governor of Georgia.
I am so very grateful to our weekend volunteers for all you do. If anyone is interested in becoming a volunteer please contact Bonnie J. McClain, activity director at 478-982-2531.
