A representative of Congressman John Barrow’s office will be available to help answer questions and address issues or concerns every Monday from 1 – 4 p.m. in the conference room at the Jenkins County Board of Commissioners’ Office, located on the third floor of the Jenkins County Courthouse, 611 Winthrope Ave. The one-on-one meetings are available to any resident of Jenkins County.

"Prayerwalk"

A "Prayerwalk" for local schools will be held 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. The purpose is to pray for Jenkins County schools’ students, teachers and administrators for the upcoming school year.

Please meet at the Jenkins County High School. Prayer sheets, to use as guides, will be provided. Those unable to walk may ride to school and pray. Those unable to attend on Sunday, Aug. 7, are encouraged to go to or ride by the schools during the week. The public is encouraged to participate.

BLS Class of 1967

President Samuel Johnson announces that the Burgess Landrum High School Class of 1967 will meet 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Bethel AME Church located on Walnut Street in Millen. All interested class members are asked to attend and to bring another classmate with them.

Tree Workshop

A free workshop about tree care will be held 10 a.m. – noon Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Georgia Southern Botanical Garden, 1505 Bland Ave., Statesboro.

Those attending will learn how to keep their trees healthy during the summer and fall. Tree expert John Quattlebaum of Future Trees, Inc. will lead the workshop. There is no admission charge, but those planning to attend should call (912) 871-1149.

Athletic Boosters

The Jenkins County Athletic Booster Club will meet 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Planters Electric Membership Corp. located on U.S. Highway 25, north. Plans will be made for the new school year’s fund-raising activities to support and enhance all phases of the school system’s after-school athletic programs.

Family Super Booster membership is $150; single Super Booster membership is $75; and regular membership is $25.
