Parade

The Fair-on-the-Square Parade needs participants. Individuals and groups who are interested in being a part of the parade should call Cindy Linder at 982-3274.

JCES Council

The Jenkins County Elementary School (JCES) Council met July 26, and elected two business partners and new officers, and set the meeting dates and time for the 2005-2006 school year.

Members of the JCES Council are: Dr. Judy Holton, principal; Debbie Williams and Donna English, teacher representatives; Stephanie Griffin and Dean Bassett, parent representatives; and Randy Hill and Vicki Adams, business representatives.

Meeting dates are: Tuesday, Oct. 25; Tuesday, Jan 24; and Tuesday, March 21. All meetings will be held in the JCES Media Center from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

All parents and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend.

The Garvin-Waye-DurdenOxford Family Reunion will be held at noon on Sunday, Oct. 2, at Magnolia Springs State Park, lot 7.

Legal Help

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) staff will meet with senior citizens who want free legal help, on a first-come, first serve basis. Senior citizens, 60 years of age or older, who have a civil, non-criminal legal issue and desire free legal help, may meet with a staff person from GLSP 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Jenkins County Senior Citizens Center, 998 College Ave., Millen.

GLSP also provides free legal help to low-income people with civil (non-criminal) legal problems. A staff person from GLSP will meet with people of Jenkins County who want free legal help, on a first-come, firstserve basis 9 – 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Senior Citizens Center located at 209 East Ogeechee St. in Sylvania.
