Mrs. Melba Girrard Carpenter, 86, of Millen died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005.

Graveside services were held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Millen Cemetery.

Mrs. Carpenter was born in Duval County, Fla. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ellis Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her three grandchildren, Rhonda R. Clower of Lynchburg, Va., Dennis T. Rhodes of Perkins and Dexter E. Rhodes of Waynesboro; her son-in-law, Travis G. Rhodes of Perkins; six great-grandchildren, Sarah and Devin Clower, Zachry and Ashlee Rhodes and Amelia and Lawton Rhodes; and several nieces and nephews.
