(Photo contributed) The Jenkins County Middle School (JCMS) 2006-2007 Eagle cheerleaders attended the Eastern Cheerleaders Association's (ECA) Personal Camp held in the high school gymnasium Friday, July 14, and Saturday, July 15. ECA provided two instructors and the curriculum for the twoday camp. The JCMS Eagle cheerleaders participated in the instruction from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. The Personal Cheer Camp curriculum included cheers, dances, stunts and team-building activities.
The instructors, who are veteran cheerleaders themselves, stated that the 12-member JCMS cheer squad was one of the hardest working groups of cheerleaders that they have trained recently.
Krystal Chance, JCMS Eagle cheerleading coach, added, "I am so proud of these girls. They are excellent representatives of Jenkins County Middle School."
Myra Halfacre, faculty advisor for the squad, commented further, "I would like to commend the parents of these cheerleaders, also. The countless sacrifices they make, and the helpful assistance that we receive from them, is invaluable. It just says volumes about how dedicated and supportive our parents are at the middle school."
The JCMS 2006-2007 cheerleaders have already held several practices and performed for students and parents at the Star Eagle Assembly held at the middle school in May.
By attending ECA's Personal Camp, the cheerleaders strengthened their fundamentals of cheering and added exciting new cheers, dances and stunts to their routines. Their first home game is Thursday, Aug. 31.
