Jenkins County Sheriff's Office receives grant

Jenkins County Sheriff Tim Fields announced this week that the Jenkins County Sheriff's Office has been awarded a grant in the amount of $28,425 from the GEMA Homeland Security Grant Local Agency Assistance Committee through the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (G.B.I.).

Sheriff Fields applied for funds in order to participate in the CCH Modernization Project. This project is designed to assist offices in updating and upgrading their Criminal History Computer system, which is virtually nonexistent in Jenkins County.

Implementation of this project will enable the Jenkins County Sheriff's Office to communicate with other agencies and exchange criminal history information with other law enforcement entities.

Funds received will be used to purchase three personal computers, mug shot interface and camera and live scan system.

Sheriff Fields credits Terri Fisher of the G.B.I. and the GEMA Homeland Security Grant Local Assistance Committee with assisting his office in securing the grant.
