Gordon Newton Williams Jr., 76, died July 22

Mr. Gordon Newton Williams Jr., 76, of Midville died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at his residence after a short illness.

Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Griffith Mathews and Thomas Simmons officiating.

Mr. Williams was born in Emanuel County. He was the son of the late Gordon Newton Sr. and Levonia (Donie) Williams. He was a farmer, and a beloved brother and uncle. He was also a member of the Swainsboro Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his sister: Mary Lee Williams Zimmerman of Midville; a brother: D. Frank Williams, also of Midville; a niece: Beth Callahan of Savannah; two nephews: Charles Zimmerman of Roswell and Major Walton Zimmerman, U.S. Army, Camp Shelby, Hattiesburg, Miss; a grand-niece: Kristen Callahan of Savannah; and four grandnephews: Jacob, Matthew, Andrew and Samuel Zimmerman of Martinez.
