Christmas decorations contest set for Dec. 12 The annual Christmas decorations contest, sponsored by the Millen Garden Council, is set to take place Tuesday, Dec. 12. Judging will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until 10 p.m. Lights must be on during this time. Judging will take place from the street or driveway. Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th honorable mention places with homes being judged in one category only and one ribbon awarded. Award signs will be placed at the 1st place winners. Divisions and categories to be judged are as follows: Division I: Class I, Homes Overall Traditional, may include outdoor displays; Class 2, Homes Overall, Fantasy, may include outdoor displays; Class 3, Doorways; and Class 4, Windows; and Division II: Commercial and Public Buildings; and Class 2, Churches. Scale of points for judging will be as follows: overall design, 30 points, artistic effort, proportion and scale; lighting, 20 points, effective placement, concealment of mechanics; color, 20 points, suitability to setting with one color dominant; distinction, 20 points, dramatic impact, creativity, one idea portrayed; and communication of Christmas spirit, 10 points, says, "Christmas Cheer to the Community." |
