Letters to the Editor Dear Editor, I read Mrs. Ida Lovett's letter and my heart went out to her. In today's society, we find so many people who do not want to work and want the government to take care of them. Mrs. Lovett is to be commended for her work history. She worked during the administration of three sheriffs, three District Attorneys and nine judges. Not only did she work to stay off of welfare, she worked until the age of 95 or 96. I congratulate Mrs. Lovett for her fortitude. On a different note, it is always best to be nice and to do things in a decent and orderly manner. It's only human nature to want to know why one is being terminated from employment. One can assume that its age related. My advice to all employers throughout this land is to do unto others as you will have them do unto you. I encourage Mrs. Lovett to stay active by getting involved in community service, clubs and church activities. By doing this Mrs. Lovett, you will be rejuvenated, refreshed and recharged to be young at heart for many years. It is my prayer that GOD will shower you with many blessings. "Let us not get weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not" Galatians 6:9 Delores Green Wilkey Dear Editor, I must respectfully disagree with Pastor Peavey concerning government's role in morality. The government has the power to make immorality illegal but it has no power to stop immorality. Christ Jesus was crucified (as were many others) for going against the established church and established laws. He was outside the system. Any church that affiliates itself with government is in my opinion anti-Christ. The people of God are affiliated with one another and the church and Christ Jesus. When Christ Jesus said render unto Caesar what is Caesars, he meant exactly that (governance, tax collection, waging war, etc.). You sir are placing your faith in government. God is the judge and he will dole out the punishment. God is our lawgiver and we must all answer to him. We must all stand before our maker and he will judge. I thank him daily for that because I have been falsely accused and judged by others many times in my life. If we want morality we must teach morality. It begins at home. Teach your daughters not to kill their children. Teach your sons to take responsibility for their actions. Teach by example and take it to heart. If this nation is to get back on track we have to take it personally-not assign the responsibility to government. Now, vote for whom ever you want to but do not expect government to change the world for the better. Government is the domain of mammon-not God. If government were God's domain, Christ Jesus would be King of the World (in the flesh) today.
