Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

As the saying goes, there’s been a lot of water passed over this dam in the last twenty years. Seems like only yesterday when Mr. Robert Reeves confronted me about running for the ASCS committee. At thirty-nine years old and full of energy, I jumped on the wagon and got elected. I have had the privilege of serving with a lot of good folks at the local, state and national levels. I’ve made friendships around the nation that will last a lifetime while dealing with different issues in the ASCS and FSA.

I have been blessed to be able to serve farmers for twenty years. I’ve fought hard to get every penny we could for our people in Jenkins County, and I hope it has helped ag services to some extent. In all my years, there have been some that got mad, but I know in my heart there are a lot more that were made glad. Due to government rules, it has come time for me to leave an office that I’ve loved

for many years. I could count on one hand the number of meetings I’ve missed, and I am very proud of that fact. We’ve had some droughts and some wet years, but we’ve worked together to keep our agriculture in Jenkins County going. We’ve survived office closings, and we probably have the nicest office in Georgia thank to our county commissioners.

I thank all the farmers and landowners for giving me the opportunity to serve them all

these years, and I pledge to do whatever I can to help those that serve after me. I leave with a heavy heart because I love to work for the farmer, but I am also proud that I am still able to help if needed. Thanks to all that had a part of this piece of my life, and may God bless all of us to do the best we can with the land He has entrusted to us.

Sincerely,

Wyndell K. Bell 20-year Retired ASCS

Committeeman
