The Millen Woman’s Club held its November meeting at the Jenkins County Family Enrichment Center. The program was presented by Probate Court Judge Wanda Burke. She discussed the duties of her position and gave interesting information about issuing marriage licenses, determining guardianship, issuing gun licenses, running elections and state laws regarding each of these topics. She also discussed wills and gave each member a form for a living will.

Hostesses for the meeting were Misty Gay and Mandy Underwood. President Diane Wade called the meeting to order and led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag. Sandy Lanier gave the inspiration, a Thanksgiving poem.

International affairs chairperson Sandy Lanier took a count of how many members made shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, and Veronica Cowart, chairman of the legislative committee, reported that three members heard Rep. Jon Burns’ speech at the Retired Teacher’s meeting.

Several members helped with the club’s booth at the Harvest of Fun. Over 100 people were served by volunteers from our club at the Town Hall meeting.

Other topics of discussion included:

· The Spring Fashion Show, which was scheduled for April

21, 2007 and will be chaired by Jennifer Wilson, with Sandy Lanier in charge of decorations, Kay Green heading up publicity, Mandy Underwood in charge of food and Art Johnson making the tickets. Each member will furnish two door prizes;
