Local students’ artwork in gallery

Seventh-grade students at Jenkins County Middle School will have their artwork displayed in a professional art gallery. Gallery RFD is the newest scene in the fast growing artist community in Swainsboro. Artists of varying media and experience were encouraged to submit works to their inaugural exhibition slated for January 2007.

Fifteen seventh grade students have submitted artwork to Gallery RFD for its inaugural exhibit. In keeping with the theme,

The Art of Communication,” these students chose to design envelopes. The projects were completed under the supervision of teacher, Pam Luke, who said, “Having artwork displayed in an art gallery is a big deal, and I am very impressed with the originality of many of the students.” Those attending the gallery opening can expect to see these amateur student works displayed in the same gallery with those of professional artists.

The following seventh-grade students will have artwork on display in Swainsboro: Christian Valle, Fuschia Gilmore, Meigan Kicklighter, Madison Allen, Marc Holley, Patsy Bunch, Shauntiqua Hardaway, Britney Jones, Marveica Gordon, Jacelyn Youmans, Robbie Evans, Olanda Snelling, Jessica Williams, Robert Williams and Chassity Wilkerson.
