JCMS Students Participate in Math-A-Thon
Sixth graders in Mrs. Carol Gaskin’s math classes at Jenkins County Middle School recently raised $548 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through its Math-A-Thon program which is in its 27th year. Students obtained sponsorships from family, friends and neighbors, asking them to sponsor the student for each math problem answered correctly. Then, students completed the Math-A-Thon Funbook by solving a variety of math problems. After completing the problems, students collected the donations from their sponsors and returned them to their teacher. The Math-A-Thon proceeds are used to fight childhood cancer. The student raising the highest amount ($260) was Jenny Taylor. Other top money raisers included Kristin McLamb, Glenn Tobie, Charity Langston, Amanda Williams, Tyrell Brown, Chayla Kicklighter and Juan Vasquez.
