The '39ers will meet noon, Monday, Nov. 19, at the Millen Community House. Please bring covered dish. Visitors are welcome.

K.C. Childers Award

Banquet

Millen Masonic District no. 16 will celebrate the annual K.C. Childers Award Banquet 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Senior Citizens Center, 998 E. College Ave.

The keynote speaker will be the Rev. Willie C. Scott of Dalton Missionary Baptist Church in Sylvania. Mayor King Rocker of the City of Millen, James Henry of the Jenkins County Board of Commissioners and Irene Drummer of the Jenkins County Board of Education will bring greetings from their respective groups.

Paratroopers and

Glider Men to meet

All former paratroopers and glider men and current paratroopers of all military branches and their guests are invited to buy their lunch and attend the next meeting of the 82nd Airborne Division Association.

The meeting will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Lovezzola's Pizzeria in Pooler. For more information, contact Dennis Conlon at (912) 897-3098.

Basketball

registration

Jenkins County Recreation Department (JCRD) is currently holding basketball registration through 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, for boys and girls ages 6 - 14. Coaches are needed; applications are available at JCRD. For more information, call 982-2943.

meeting changed

Jenkins County Recreation Department's regular board meeting has been changed from Wednesday, Dec. 5, to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6.

Luncheon, Quilt

Display

"Celebrate Christmas 2007" luncheon and life of Christ quilt display will be held noon Saturday, Dec. 1, at First Baptist Church, Waynesboro.

Come early to view the 20 Christmas tables. There will also be Christmas music, as well as an inspiring program by Mary Bailey Davis of Cimarron, N.M., formerly of Waynesboro.

Confederate

Memorial Service

A Confederate memorial service for Lt. Col. Batt Jones and his wife, Caroline Sapp Jones, will be held 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in the cemetery of Big Buckhead Church, following the annual Buckhead School Day. The Margaret Jones #27 United Daughters of the Confederacy will sponsor the service, in cooperation with the Buckhead-Fort Lawton Sons of Confederate Veterans. All family and friends are invited.
