Lindsey named collegiate winner
      The United States Achievement Academy announced that Haley Lindsey of Millen has been named a United States Collegiate Award winner in Psychology. The academy recognizes fewer than 10 percent of all American college students.

Georgia Department of Defense to utilize technical colleges in times of emergency
In new agreement
      The grounds of Georgia’s 34 technical college campuses can be used as emergency staging areas or disaster command centers under a new agreement between the Department of Technical and Adult Education (DTAE) and the Georgia Department of Defense, according to a recent press release.

Entries needed for MLK parade
      parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, in downtown Millen. This year’s theme is “Many faces, one community.” Check in starts at 8:30 a.m. and participants are asked to check entries in with the parade official at the Winthrope Avenue end of Cotton Avenue.

The Voices of Franklin to head MLK activities
      The Voices of Franklin will be special guest for the 2007 Martin Luther King Jr. celebration scheduled for Monday, Jan. 15. They will ride in the parade at 10 a.m. and make an appearance after the parade at Bethel A.M.E. Church. Alvin and Barbara Franklin originally hail from Detroit, Mich.

      October and November terms of the Jenkins County Magistrate Court consisted of 47 scheduled cases including 12 Deposit Account Fraud cases, 34 offenses of Failure to Attach and Display Mobile Home Decal and one Littering violation.
