The staff of the Jenkins County Memorial Library wishes each and every one of you a healthy and happy New Year.

The display cases in the Ruth Newton Spiers Board Room are filled with beautiful handpainted china. These pieces were done by Mrs. Camille Lane, Mrs. Marilyn Knight, Mrs. Jackie Moore and Mrs. Barbara Pike. Please come by to see this wonderful display.

At 4 p.m. on Wednesdays we have story time for children ages 3 and up. During this fun time, children can listen to a story and do a craft project while the adults catch their breath from all the holiday rush.

If you are in the Sylvania area, you will want to go by the Sylvania library to see Donny Humes, who is exhibiting his unique and fascinating sculptures in the multi-purpose room of the library. Gayle Cousar has a collection of pitchers and china on display in the lobby of the library. Stop by and be amazed at the imagination that went into creating these charming and useful pieces.

· SelecTree: A Tree Selection Guide –

With information on more than 1,400 trees, this tree selection guide features options for searching, browsing by common and scientific names, and generating a list of trees that matches a set of attributes (such as height, fragrance, and water and soil requirements). Tree profiles include photographs, growth habit, pest and disease problems and more. From the Urban Forest Ecosystems Institute, based at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly).

This presentation recounts the impeachment trial of Andrew Johnson, the 17th U.S. President. Provides a chronology, details about the trial process, a map showing the Senate vote, images, and links to related websites. Part of the Famous Trials project by a professor at the University of Missouri Kansas City, School of Law.
