4-H News
Anna Burgess CEA- 4-H & Youth

Now that the holidays have come and gone and everyone is getting back to their usual routine, I guess it's time for me to get back to mine!

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays. It's good to take a break from life's hectic ways every now and then and just count your blessings. As for 4-H, I don't think we truly stopped during the holidays. We went caroling, had a Christmas party, went to the movies, and made all kinds of crafts!

With DPA just around the corner, most portfolios are complete and participants should be working on their speeches now. I know this all seems like a lot of work just to go off and meet new people, but soon you will appreciate the challenge and learn that it's not just about who you meet but who you become.

I want to thank the students who have been in here continuously working to meet deadlines and the supportive parents who know this program has their best interest at hand. All participants should receive a letter in the mail toward the end of the week with a lot of important information in it. Please read it carefully and return the enclosed forms by their due date. I expect to see each of you this week to start working on your presentations.

DPA is not all we have in store! I am planning a digital scavenger hunt soon. It should be lots of fun. All 4-H'ers will be invited to join. I will have more information on it soon.

Also, many people have expressed an interest in Dairy Judging. This is something I am eager to start. I think Jenkins County will really do well at it.

The Dairy Judging Contest is in April. We won't start practicing until February, but if this sounds like something that might interest you, let me know. You will have to be willing to give up one afternoon every week for two months in order to be effective. When it gets closer, I will send out more details.

Well, that's about all I have for now. Don't forget there will be an Officers meeting Thursday from 3:30 to 4:30. I hope y'all have a wonderful week!
