Syl-View Happenings The schedule has been full and running over at Syl-View the past few weeks. There have been parties, worship services and so many special activities. It has been a blessed season for our residents and staff. Our "Gifts for Light" program was completed on Christmas Day. The Johnson Family came bearing gifts for all our residents without family support. The members of the Johnson family went to visit each personally and presented them with a gift, which made them feel special. Later, the Johnsons gathered around the piano and sang Christmas music. I gave thanks for the outpouring of love from our community during these special days. Our "Gifts of Light," designed to bring light and love to every resident, began the first Sunday in December. On that day, volunteers, staff and family members gathered bringing gifts so that every resident received several gifts. Bill Kellicker and Doug and Nancy Schriner sang Christmas songs, and community volunteers brought and served refreshments. This began the beautiful season of love. Volunteers and staff members decorated the ten Christmas trees and made displays to welcome visitors. As you came up the driveway, you were greeted by Mr. Snowman made by resident Ella Chance. A sleigh filled with gaily-wrapped gifts was spotlighted. The building entrance was draped with garlands of flowers and white lights, which were given in memory of Marie Dwelle by her daughter, Jean. Mrs. Dwelle served as a faithful volunteer at Syl-View for years. There have been Scout groups presenting the Christmas Story plays and church groups gave programs and sang carols. No one could feel neglected as many came bringing flowers and gifts of love. The residents and staff have received so many Christmas goodies. I received cards and notes from people who read The Millen News, and they are appreciated. We have precious memories of those who lived at Syl-View from the Millen area and cherish the friendship of the family members. Please keep us in your prayers. We celebrated with a New Year's Noon Party as we welcomed 2007 a little early on Friday, Dec. 29. The dining tables were decorated, and we had party hats and noise makers. We enjoyed ambrosia and cookies with the meal and drank a toast of sparkling grape juice to the New Year. Have a blessed New Year and visit us as Syl-View soon. |
