Troopers release 2006 stats

State Troopers from the Sylvania Post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated 48 traffic crashes during the year of 2006 in Jenkins County. Sergeant First Class Young said the traffic crashes resulted in 37 injuries and no deaths.

SFC Young said troopers from Post 21 also issued 1,469 traffic citations in the county during the year. The total includes 36 arrests for driving under the influence, 817 citations for speeding, 127 seatbelt violations and 44 child restraint violations.

In addition to enforcement activity, SFC Young also announced that troopers conducted two safety education presentations to promote traffic safety in Jenkins County. SFC Young said troopers routinely make safety presentations in the counties the post serves.
