Jenkins County Elementary School hosted the county-wide spelling bee Friday, Jan. 19. Ten students competed for the title of Jenkins County Spelling Bee Champion, and after several rounds of competition, Jaymee Moore, a sixth-grader at Jenkins County Middle School, was declared the winner.

Moore will represent Jenkins County in the Scripps Howard local qualifying Bee hosted by the Augusta Chronicle.

The bee was open to students in grade fourth-eighth.

On behalf of the Jenkins County School System, Sylvia Gay presented each participant with a medal of achievement and the winner with a trophy.
