Mars Wampler, 87, of Midville died Feb. 2 Mr. Mars Wampler, 87, of Midville died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with burial to follow at Deep Creek Cemetery. Mr. Wampler was born in Glamorgan, Va. but lived several years near Midville. He was a retired warrant officer with the U.S. Army having served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Mr. Wampler was also a deacon of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, where he also served as teacher for the adult Sunday School. Mr. Wampler was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Wampler. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Drake Wampler; three daughters, Deborah (Mike) Riddle of Panama City, Fla., Nancy (Bob) McKinstry of Pawleys Island, S.C. and Cynthia (Ed) Flynn of Norcross; three brothers, Bill Wampler and Frank Wampler both of Wise, Va. and Fred Wampler of Anderson, Ind.; a sister, Faye Hilliard of Hampton, Va.; three grandchildren, Stephanie Friese, Emily Friese and Natalie (Robert) McNeal.
