JCES students recognized for academic accomplishments

Magic Mark of WTOC television presented a program of magic and other fun activities during the second nineweeks assembly program at Jenkins County Elementary School.

Jenkins County Elementary School students enjoyed the second nine weeks assembly with Magic Mark. Magic Mark performed magic tricks, introduced some of his animals, and entertained the faculty/staff, and students. During his performance, Magic Mark involved the students, faculty/staff, and gave some interesting facts about his animals and how he uses them during the show. Magic Mark recognized the accomplishments of the students who had reached their AR goal for the nine-week grading period as well as those students earning the Character Education Award and for having perfect attendance. Magic Mark can be seen on WTOC on Saturday mornings at 7:30 a.m.

Dr. Holton, principal, was proud to announce that there were 507 students who earned the Character Education Award and 240 students had perfect attendance during the second nine weeks. Prizes were provided by Huddle House and Dairy Queen, both business partners for JCES. Students worked hard to meet the nine weeks AR goal; however, they came up short. Students were recognized who had the highest AR points and the highest average from each grade level. All students were encouraged to read even more during the third nine weeks to meet the school goal.

Students in each grade level were recognized for reaching their goal in Accelerated Reader and enjoyed a movie and a coke. In addition, the student having the most AR points for the second nine weeks in each grade level received a cool AR prize. They were:
