SCV to meet

Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 2102 will meet Friday, Feb. 16, at Cindy's Café on Cotton.

"Greetin' and Eatin'" will be at 6:30 p.m., and the meeting will start at 7:30 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Hu Daughtry of Metter's Dixie Guards. He is a published author of regional southern history ("Confederate Tales of Candler and Surrounding Counties" is his latest work.)

The public is invited to attend.

Blood drive to be held

The Senior Anatomy Class of Jenkins County High School is sponsoring a blood drive 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Jenkins County Agriculture Center.

The goal for the drive is 120 pints of blood.

Baseball/softball registration

The Jenkins County Recreation Department is holding registration for baseball and softball.

Parents of children ages 4-14 may come by the recreation department to signup and are asked to bring with you a copy of their birth certificate and insurance information.

Parents will be required to fill out a registration form for each child playing. The registration fee is due at the time of signup. The deadline for signup will be 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23.

The recreation department is also holding registration for coaches.

Anyone interested in becoming a coach can come by the recreation department and fill out a coach's application.

The deadline to signup is 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23. All applicants are subject to a criminal background check.

Senior Center plans trip to Hamricks

The Jenkins County Senior Citizens Center is organizing a trip to Hamricks. All senior adults are invited to participate. For additional information and to make reservations, call 982-4213.
