When's the last time you went to a birthday party? Well, today at 4 p.m. the library is having a party in honor of Dr. Theodore Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss! That's right, Dr. Seuss' birthday is Friday, March 2, and we're celebrating with cake, stories (Seussian, of course!), and crafts. Whether you're young or young at heart, make sure to come in and enjoy the fun!

We're getting ready to Slam here at the library! Remember, you only have until Monday, March 12 at 5:30 p.m. to turn in your entries for Slam & Jam 2007, which will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, March 23. It's a great way to showcase your writing talents. If you're between the ages of 12 and 19, get your entries in and come to the library to read your work and enjoy pizza, subs, drinks and more! There will be prizes for all participants and for many audience members as well, so you won't want to miss this… whether or not you're the right age to be a Slam writer! You can be a published author because In addition to the prizes, all writers will also be given copies of their work in a special limitededition book. Want more information, or to join in the fun? Call Sharon at 912-564-7526.

Please mark your calendar with the dates of 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4, when we will unveil the portrait of Mrs. Ruth Newton Spiers, who was librarian here for over 30 years and Tuesday, March 13, from 7-9 p.m. when Harry O'Donoghue will entertain us with an evening of anecdotes, humor and songs relating to Irish history and culture, past and present.
