Harley murder trial to begin March 20

Nearly a year after the murder of Steven Harley, those accused of the crime will answer the charges against them when the case goes to trial Tuesday, March 20, in Jenkins County Superior Court.

Tracy Harley, wife of the victim, and Rico Walker, an acquaintance of Mrs. Harley, face charges of murder. Mrs. Harley also faces charges of criminal attempt, tampering with evidence and two counts of making false statements/writings/concealment of facts. Other charges against Walker include criminal attempt and tampering with evidence.

Mr. Harley was found slain inside the couple's Hiltonia Road residence April 26, 2006.

Mrs. Harley was arrested May 16, 2006 for her husband's murder, five days after the arrest of Walker at his Hartwell residence.

Both entered pleas of "not guilty" to all charges against them June 29, 2006 in Jenkins County Superior Court and have been held without bond since their arrests.
