Esther Lee Reeves, 77, of Millen died March 1 Esther Lee Reeves, 77, of Millen died at home Thursday, March 1, 2007 following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at Millen United Methodist Church. Mrs. Reeves was a life-long resident of Millen and Jenkins County. She graduated from Millen High School in 1946, attended Georgia Teacher's College in Statesboro for a year and graduated from Crawford W. Long Nursing School in Atlanta in 1950 as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse in the Lee clinic in Millen until her father's death in 1955, at which time she became a full-time homemaker. She was a member of Millen United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She was a former Girl Scout troop leader and was an avid member of both the Millen and Augusta Rose societies. Mrs. Reeves was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Grady Lee, M.D. and Queen Esther (Tommie) Lee. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert A. Reeves Sr.; three children, Millie Reeves, Robert A. Reeves Jr. (Wendy) and Grady Lee Reeves (Donna); and five grandchildren, Robert A. (Cory) Reeves III, Cara Allyssa Reeves, Margaret Elizabeth Reeves, Mary Kate Reeves and Madeline Lee Reeves. The family received friends at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home in Millen 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 3. Memorials may be made to Millen United Methodist Church, Post Office Box 750, Millen, GA 30442. |
