Kenneth Eugene (Gene) Tallent, 85, died March 7 Mr. Kenneth Eugene (Gene) Tallent, 85, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 7, 2007. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at Millen Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Millen Cemetery. Mr. Tallent was a native of Madisonville, Tenn. He had been a resident of Millen since 1949. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and was a retired merchant. Mr. Tallent moved to Statesboro five years ago and was a resident at Willow Pond Assisted Care. He was a member of Millen Baptist Church where he served on the deacon board and was a member of Pinnacle Sunday School class. He was a World War II veteran, having served as a bomber pilot in the European theatre of operations and also the Korean conflict as a transport pilot. He was a former member of the Millen Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. Mr. Tallent was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Ann Tallent. Survivors include his daughter, LuAnn Tallent Washington, and son-in-law, Dr. Sidney Richard Washington III; four grandsons, Sidney R. Washington IV, Mark T. Washington and John M. Washington, all of Statesboro, and Kenneth G. Washington of Gainesville; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, at Crowe- Fields Funeral Home.
