JCMS announces winners of writing competition

Jenkins County Middle School (JCMS) recently announced the winners of the Young Georgia Authors' Writing Competition (YGAWC).
They are as follows:
Sixth grade:
+ First place - Will Griffin, research paper entitled "The Sun;"
+ Second place - Lata Scott, poem entitled "Friends;"
+ Third place - Arion Waters, narrative entitled "Sad Arguments."
Seventh grade:
+ First place - Sara Burke, narrative entitled "My Trip Out West;"
+ Second place - Marc Holley, poem entitled "What Christmas Means to Me;"
+ Third place - Britney Jones, essay entitled "If I Were Mayor."
Eighth grade:
+ First place - Whitley Clark, narrative entitled "Big Night;"
+ Second place - Jessica Herrmann, essay entitled "What is Beauty?"
+ Third place - Tyrone Brown, narrative entitled "The Mystery Halloween."
All three first place winners, Griffin, Burke and Clark, will advance to the district competition of the YGAWC. District winners will be announced along with the state winning entries.
The purpose of the Young Georgia Authors' Writing Competition is to encourage students to develop writing that represents their best efforts, provide a context for schools to support and celebrate the writing successes of all students and to encourage and recognize student achievement in writing throughout Georgia.
