Hall gets life sentence A Millen man found guilty of numerous charges in connection with an October 2005 attack on a woman and her young granddaughter in the Statesboro Wal-Mart store will most likely spend the rest of his life in prison. On Tuesday, March 13, Superior Court Judge Gates Peed sentenced Stephen Mark Hall in Bulloch County Superior Court to life in prison plus 62 years. Earlier this month, Hall was found guilty on 17 charges which included: kidnapping with bodily harm, kidnapping, four counts of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm during the commission of felonies, cruelty to children, third degree cruelty to children and six counts of battery. The charges stem from an incident in which Hall attacked a woman and her granddaughter in the bathroom of the Wal- Mart store. Store employees and other customers eventually rescued the victims after hearing their screams for help. Hall was eventually stopped in the parking lot of the store by a U.S. Marine Corps Reservists who drew a gun and held him at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived. |
