Benefit concert this Saturday
A benefit concert for Amanda Dryden will be held this Saturday, March 24, at the old Midville School auditorium at 6 p.m. and will feature The Restoration Quartet of Deland, Fla. Dryden, 29, is awaiting a kidney transplant through Emory Healthcare in Atlanta and has been undergoing dialysis since the birth of her son, Gabe, now 6. She is the daughter of Tony Smith, pastor of Midville United Methodist Church and Union Grove, and so far, the two churches have raised approximately $30,000, which has been channeled into a trust fund established by her home church in Kathleen. Costs for the transplant are anticipated to be $145,000 the first year with post-transplant medications costing $800 to $2,000 per month for life. Tickets to the concert may be purchased from any Midville UMC member or by calling 478-569-7612, and they will also be available at the auditorium. Dryden is pictured with her father.
