Watkins, Pittman win Super Eagle Day 5K Clint Watkins continued his domination of the Super Eagle Day 5K by winning his fourth consecutive race with a time of 17 minutes and 35 seconds. Corian Roberson finished second in a time of 19:13. Roberson was followed by a pair of Jenkins County High School athletes, Brandon Wade and James Bramblett. Brandon finished third in 19:48 and James was fourth in a time of 19:49. In the women's race, Jenkins County High School track and cross country standout Andrea Pittman gave the locals something to cheer about by winning the women's division in a time of 25:13. Defending champion Erin Burton was second with a time of 26:18. Two time winner and course record holder, Andi Johnson, finished third in a time of 26:59. A number of area residents picked up age group awards in the 5K Road Race. Kolton Lee won the 10 & under age group, Zac Becton and Bowden James finished second and third respectively. In the 11 - 14 age group, Tyler Taylor finished first, followed by Bobby Boone and Colin Chance. In the girls 11 - 14 division, Johnna Forehand finished in first place. In the male 15 - 19 age group, Corian Roberson, Brandon Wade and James Bramblett finished in the top three spots. Katelyn Head won the female race in the 15 - 19 age group. In the 20 - 24 age group, Geoffrey Daniel finished first. Jimmy Brannen won the male division in the 35 - 39 age group. In the female race, Theresa Proctor, Marty Miller, Carrie Gay and Julie Gainey finished first, second, third and fourth. Ted Harvey and Dwight Smith finished first and second in the 40 - 44 age group for the men. Andi Johnson finished first in the 40 - 44 age group. Wendell Clark won the 45 - 49 age group for the men, while Toby Davis won the 50 - 54 age group. Pam Dwight finished first in the 50 - 54 age group and Brenda Cooter won the 60 - 64 age group. Rick Umpleby was the first place finisher in the 60 - 64 age group. In the Baby Eagle 1 Mile Fun Run, Tyler Taylor (6:47) and Tori Becton (8:36) won the trophies for the first place boy and the first place girl. Age group winners in the Baby Eagle 1 Mile were: Male 6 and under; Bowden James placed first, followed by Cannon Griffin second and Cheney Knight third. In the girl's division, Taylor Hearn finished first followed by Marley Knight and Libby Searles. In the boys 7 and 8 age group, Bill Knight, Jr. was first, Zan Becton finished second and Garrison Underwood was third. For the girls, Sara Brooke Thompson won the age group, followed by Alyssa Brannen and Kelsey Fleming. In the 9 and 10 age group, Will Finch, Caleb Lindsey and Zachary Proctor were the top three finishers. In the girls race, it was Dona' Gay, Maggie Searles and Claire Lanier in first, second and third place. The boys age 11 and 12; the top three finishers were Jamaine Torrence, Zavondric Shingleton and Steven Brantley. In the girls' race, Kayla Kirkland finished first, followed by Tamaria Patterson and Alexis Deal. The Super Eagle 1 Mile Fun Run was won by Clint Watkins (5:27) and local favorite Nan Searles (10:02). In the 13 and 14 age group, Will Brinson finished first, Jacob Lindsey was second and Zimiko Jones was third. For the girls, Jessica Head was first, Chloe Alsup finished second and Hannah Alsup was third. In the 15 - 19 age group, the top three boys were Vincent Bynes, Coley Clifton and Geoffery Stripling. For the girls, the top three were Melissa White, Hayley Newton and Kalaya Curl. Chad Fordham won the 20 - 29 age group for the men, while Liz Fleming and Melissa Cobb finished first and second in the women's division. Bobby James won the 30 - 39 age group, John Paul Hearn finished second. In the women's division, Penny Tanner, Jessica Reese and Michelle Brannen finished first, second and third. In the 40 - 49 age group, it was Karen Gilmore, Laurie Fleming and Donna Boone. In the 50 - 59 age group it was Bob Boone, Bill Eller and Jeff Alsup in the men's division, and Mildred Cobb, Kim Alsup and Irene Drummer in the female division. In the female division of the 60 and over age group, Mary Bragg finished first and Libby Williams finished second. For the second year in a row, Super Eagle Day was sponsored by the Jenkins County Wellness Project, under the direction of Nan Searles. The race would not have been possible without the cooperation of the Millen Police Department and the Jenkins County EMT staff. The Community Health Fair featured Alvin Burke from the Jenkins County Hospital and Pam Drake from the Jenkins County Health Department. The Child ID Project was coordinated by Randy Hill and a group from Planters EMC. Over 100 reading books were passed out to children age 12 and under.
