STC cosmetology students visit Merle Norman

Linda Whitaker, Swainsboro Technical College (STC) night cosmetology program instructor, recently took her students to visit the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio and Salon, owned by Susan Stephens.

Beauty consultants, Stephens and Raven Hall instructed the students on proper skin care, removal of makeup and application of makeup. The students also received a makeover and sweet treat from the studio staff.

While there, they toured the Merle Norman Hair Salon, where master cosmetologists Kelly Thompson and Kelly Scarboro demonstrated advanced hair cutting and styling techniques, answered questions and provided advice on the cosmetology profession.

"I really appreciate the time that everyone at Merle Norman spent with our students," said Whitaker. "Part of the curriculum of our program is providing insight into what it takes to have a successful business; and they were generous in their information with us."
