JCHS goes 3-1 for the week

The Jenkins County High School varsity baseball Eagles won a thrilling come-from-behind game against E.C.I. 9-8 Friday, March 23.

Leading hitters were Spencer Clark, 2-4, two RBIs; Zac Clark and Justin Johnson, 1-2 with two walks each; and Aaron Comstock, 1-1 with two walks. Comstock was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts and no walks. He threw a total of 78 pitches for the game with only 13 balls.

In the seventh inning, JCHS came from behind 8-2 to win 9-8.

"It was a great game coming back from behind so late in the game," said Coach Wendell Clark

On Saturday, March 24, the Eagles fell 13-4 to Hephzibah.

Leading hitters were Justin Johnson, 2-2 with two walks, Caleb Chance, 2-2; and Zac Clark and Justin Lanier, 2-4.

"Ethan Conway pitched a good game against a 4A high school," commented Coach Clark.

Bob Hoke provided relief.

The Eagles lost a hard fought battle against Claxton 18-15 on Tuesday, March 27.

Leading hitters were Caleb Chance, Zac Clark and Josh Lee, who were all 3-4. Clark had three doubles with four RBIs. Lee had three singles with three steals and Chance had two RBIs. Boyd Sasser went 3-5 with a double.

Avery McAlpine was the starting pitcher, and Will Bragg came in relief.

On Wednesday, March 28, the Eagles lost 15-7 to Metter.

Leading hitters were Spencer Clark, 3-4; Justin Johnson and Caleb Chance, 2-4 with triples; and Justin Lanier and Zac Clark, 1-3 with doubles.

The losing pitcher was Bob Hoke.

B-Team

The B-Team Eagles won two games and lost one in a week of play. Their record now stands at 8-2 for the season.

On Thursday, March 22, the Eagles defeated Southeast Bulloch 6-5.

Leading hitters were Trevor Weathersby, 4-5 with a double; Will Bragg, 1-2; and Dontavious Young, 1-3 with a triple.

Weathersby was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts and no walks. Josh Lee was the starter and pitched well.

Friday, March 23, saw the Eagles win 12-6 against E.C.I.

Leading hitters were Josh Lee, 3-3 with a homerun; Will Bragg, 3-3; Dag Gay and Robert Sipes, 2-3 with a triple; Justin Johnston, 1-2; and Aaron Tanner, 1-3.

The winning pitcher was Will Bragg with six strikeouts and no walks.

The Eagles lost to Claxton 6-4 Tuesday, March 27.

Leading hitters were Dontavious Young, Aaron Comstock and Aaron Tanner, 1-2, and Dag Gay, 1-3.

The losing pitcher in a tough game was Ethan Conway.

The Eagles will face Screven varsity on the road 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 9; Portal varsity at home 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 10; and Cteam E.C.I. on the road 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 10.
