The past few days have been great kite-flying weather with the winds cranking up to 20-35 miles per hour. Unfortunately, winds of that magnitude also play havoc with electric lines and tree limbs.

Numerous tree limbs were downed throughout the county and Planters Electric Membership Corporation crews worked throughout Sunday night and early Monday morning to restore power to approximately 2,200 customers.

We were one of the fortunate who did not lose power. There is nothing like an outage, however, to make you appreciate electricity and all the conveniences and necessities it operates.

Hopefully, our "Easter snap" will come to an end this week, and we can begin to again enjoy springtime temperatures and weather conditions. I am sure it will not be long at all before we are complaining about the hot humid weather of summer.
