High winds cause damage
 | | Heavy thunderstorms and damaging wind created havoc across Jenkins County Saturday and Sunday. This feed house located on the property of Randall Gay at 300 Johnson- Gay Road, Garfield was damaged during a storm early Sunday morning. The roof and side shed of the building were blown into a nearby field and approximately 100 bushels of corn were lost. Approximately 2,200 customers of Planters Electric Membership Corporation in Jenkins, Screven, Burke and Effingham counties lost power late Sunday afternoon and Sunday night due to high winds. Crews worked through the night with most outages being restored by 4 a.m. Monday morning. (Photos contributed) |
