Spring Fling

Bulloch Academy will have its Spring Fling for prospective students and families 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, May 5, on the school's campus.

Food, fun and displays of instruction will be in each classroom.

The public is invited.

Georgia On My Mind Day

The Georgia Visitors Center in Sylvania will have Georgia On My Mind Day activities 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the visitors center.

The annual event provides an opportunity to promote tourism in the local area and throughout the state.

Attractions range from safety demonstrations by Planters EMC, Civil War and Indian history and wildlife exhibits.

The public is invited to attend.

SCV memorial service

The Buckhead-Fort Lawson Camp #2102, Sons of Confederate Veterans will have its annual memorial service 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at the Confederate monument on the courthouse square in Millen.

Re-enactments by area camps, plus salutes by cannon and mortar, are scheduled. A keynote address will be given by Georgia Division Chaplain Jim Cavanah, and a special flag retirement is scheduled.

A social will follow under the magnolia trees. The public is invited to attend.

'Cheaper by the Dozen'

The play "Cheaper by the Dozen" will be presented this weekend by the Averitt Stars at the Averitt Center for the Arts in Statesboro.

Shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28, as well as on Sunday, April 29 at 2 p.m.

Wendy Weinberger, director of the Screven-Jenkins Regional Library System, will direct the play and perform as "Miss Brill."

Mrs. Lillian Williams' dog, Jenny, is in the play. Mrs. Williams is a teacher from Sylvania.

The play is a charming, old-fashion comedy about the Gilbreth family set in the 1920s.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children under 12. Call 912-212-ARTS for information or to buy tickets.

Health Fair

The 2007 Health Fair, sponsored by Jenkins County Hospital, will be held 2-6 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at the facility.

A variety of tests will be available at no charge or reduced costs during the fair.

Other special activities will also take place.

Chick-N-Que

Oak Hill Baptist Church Acteens will sponsor a Chick-N-Que 5-8 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at the church, located at 3233 Oak Hill Church Road in Millen.

Tickets are $6, and eat-in or take-out plates will be available.

Tickets can be purchased at Edenfield Feed & Seed, from any of the Acteen girls and at the door.

The public is invited.
