Driver airlifted after Highway 23 wreck
The driver of this Chevrolet S-10, Lawrence Schlernitzauer of Richmond Hill, was seriously injured Saturday, April 21, when he lost control of the vehicle as it traveled on Hwy. 23 North. He was airlifted to the Medical College of Georgia. A passenger in the vehicle, James Gardner, also of Richmond Hill, was uninjured. Witnesses report that the two had participated in a 4-H shooting match at Hanging Rocks Plantation and were on their way back home to attend their prom when the accident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. (Photos contributed)
