Eagles drop two games

The Jenkins County High School varsity baseball team suffered two losses last week.

Tuesday, April 17, the Eagles fell 12-2 to Calvary Baptist.

Leading hitters were Spencer Clark, 2-2; Boyd Sasser ,2-3; Caleb Chance, 1-2; and Zac Clark and Justin Lanier 1-3. Losing pitcher was Avery McAlpine. Boyd Sasser broke the stolen base record for a season with 22 steals.

The Eagles lost 7-2 to Metter on Wednesday, April 18.

Leading hitters were Bob Hoke, 2-2, homerun; Boyd Sasser, 3-4; Ethan Conway, 2-3; Justin Lanier and Josh Lee. 1-2; and Avery McAlpine, 1-3.

Losing pitcher was Ethan Conway with Bob Hoke in relief.

Coach Wendell Clark commented, "Overall the pitchers did not pitch a bad game. Only one of the seven runs was earned. We got into a little trouble with five walks."

B-Team The B-team defeated Portal 15- 7 last week.

Leading hitters were Trevor Weathersby, 3-3; Dag Gay, 2-2; Robert Sipes and Aaron Comstock, 2-3; and Will Bragg, 2-4.

Trevor Weathersby was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and only one walk. Will Bragg and Josh Lee pitched in relief.

The B-team is 10-2 on the year.
