Regions Bank, Millen, celebrated the retirement of Margaret L. Newton with a reception held Monday, April 30, at the bank.

Newton began her banking career in Metter in the early 1970s, and began working at the previous Cotton Avenue location of Bank of Millen in 1976 under President Watson Rocker. Newton continued her banking career for 31 years, working with presidents Leonard Herrington and Kirk Rocker. In recent years, Newton held the position of financial services representative where she was responsible for certificates of deposit, IRAs, new accounts and safe deposit boxes.

In commenting on her retirement, Kirk Rocker stated, "Margaret was an asset to our bank, as well as our community; admired and respected by her co-workers and peers. Our customers will miss her personal and professional service."

Newton is married to Jack Newton, and they have two children and five grandchildren.
