Eagles baseball team loses one, wins one

The Jenkins County High School varsity baseball team won one and lost one last week on the diamond.

The Eagles lost to Bryan County 7-6.

Leading hitters were Ethan Conway, 2-2, with a double and RBI; Caleb Chance, 2-3, with a RBI; Spencer Clark, 1- 1; Zac Clark, 1-2, with two walks; Aaron Comstock, 1-2; and Boyd Sasser, 1-3.

Losing pitcher was Aaron Comstock.

"A hard fought game with a lot of action. We were ahead 6- 1 going into the fifth inning. To Bryan Co.'s credit they rallied for six runs in the 5th inning," commented Coach Wendell Clark.

The Eagles defeated Claxton 12-6.

Leading hitters were Spencer Clark, 3-3, with a double and two RBI's; Avery McAlpine, 2- 2; Caleb Chance, 1-2, and two RBI's; Bob Hoke, 2-4, with a double and two RBI's; Zac Clark, 2-4, with a triple; Ethan Conway, 1-3; and Boyd Sasser, 1-4.

In a tough loss, the losing pitcher was Bob Hoke with Avery McAlpine starting the game. Caleb Chance and Trevor Weathersby came on in relief.

Come out and support the Eagles at the 2007 athletic banquet on Monday, May 14, at 7 p.m. in the school's cafeteria.
