JCHS receives GHSGT results Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) results are back and Jenkins County High School (JCHS) juniors have outscored the state and RESA in most areas. Dr. Joey Kirkland, principal, attributes the achievement, "to the hard work of both our students and teachers." He added, "Teachers have worked hard and prepared students for these high stakes tests, and our students have responded with tremendous effort and ability. I also attribute this outstanding level of student achievement to the high expectations and goals set and maintained by the entire JCHS family - teachers, administrators, support personnel and food services providers." Results of the first time test takers (juniors) including all students (regular students, special education students and Limited English Proficient students) show a 98 percent pass rate in English Language Arts, which beat both the state rate of 96 percent and RESA rate of 95 percent. In mathematics, JCHS students had a 93 percent pass rate, which beat the state rate of 92 percent and the RESA pass rate of 90 percent. Social studies showed an 82 percent pass rate. Science students achieved a 77 percent pass rate, and beat the RESA average of 69 percent and the state aver of 74 percent.
