We are still excited at Syl- View that Ms. Syl-View 2007, Ella Ree Chance, was second runner-up in the Ms. Georgia Nursing Home Pageant held in Stone Mountain last weekend. She was one of 19 women from across the state who competed for the honor. As she was named to the top five finalists, we were so proud.

The ladies were interviewed by a panel of judges earlier in the day and then escorted on the stage by Marines in full dress uniforms. Ms. Chance wore a red outfit trimmed in black braid and gold sequins. Her silver hair framed her face as she waved to the crowd gathered in the ballroom of the Marriott Evergreen Resort in Stone Mountain. She was interviewed on stage by master of ceremonies Paul Ossmann, a television personality. Ms. Chance was radi- ant as she displayed her handmade tatting. She is very talented with her handwork.

The judges retired to make their final decision, and we were entertained by Dr. Emily Foster, Miss Georgia 2001, and introduced to Miss Georgia 2006, Amanda Kozak. When the judges returned, our Ms. Syl- View was named second runnerup to Ms. Georgia Nursing Home. Ms. Chance was presented a plaque, a certificate and a gift. It was a very special time, which shall continue to be a blessing. Our group consisted of Toni Ellison, administrator; Debbie Lewis, LPN; and the Rev. Don and Betty Scarborough.

The Sylvania Junior Woman's Club planted a tree in the courtyard in honor of Ms. Chance. She will be honored with a reception at Syl-View in the near future.
