City imposes outdoor water restrictions

The City of Millen announced this week that it has adopted outdoor water restrictions. The restrictions are in compliance with EPD statewide water restrictions and will be strictly enforced.

Outside watering will be allowed only from 12:01 midnight until 6 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to midnight on an odd-even basis. An even numbered street address may water on an even numbered calendar day. Likewise, an odd number address may water on an odd numbered calendar day.

Cemetery watering will be allowed from 6-8 a.m. on odd numbered calendar days of the month.

Private well owners are requested to voluntarily comply since all water is drawn from the same source.

Violators of the restrictions may be cited by officers of the Millen Police Department with an initial violation resulting in a warning citation. A second or subsequent violation will result in termination of water service to the residence or business at which the violation occurred.

A second or subsequent violation is punishable by a fine of not less than $50 and no more than $1,000, imprisonment of not less than one day and no more than 30 days. A reconnection fee of $4 shall be charged to restore services.
